The congress was held on April 16-17 in Moscow. Institute staff actively participated in the event.

The key theme of the Congress was improving epidemiological surveillance and preventing the introduction and spread of infectious disease pathogens into Russia. The Congress addressed such pressing issues as controlling the risks of new infections, how microorganisms and viruses overcome interspecies barriers, changes in the genotype and phenotype of humans and animals, the spread of antimicrobial resistance, and more. More than 2,000 people from 79 regions of the Russian Federation and 16 foreign countries registered to participate in the Congress.
The Congress included 25 breakout sessions, featuring 190 presentations. A joint meeting of scientific societies was held, including the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists, and Parasitologists.
Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. The Blokhina Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing was represented by the Institute's Director, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor N.N. Zaitseva; Leading Researcher of the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology of Viral Infections, PhD in Biology N.V. Epifanova; and young researchers of the Laboratory of Epidemiology of Viral Hepatitis – Junior Researchers A.A. Novoselova and A.A. Korneva.
N.V. Epifanova presented a report, "Genomic Epidemiological Surveillance of Enterovirus and Norovirus Infection," as part of the section "Molecular Genetic Monitoring in the Infectious Disease Epidemiological Surveillance System: Current Opportunities and Prospects."
The young scientists participated in the Young Scientists' Paper Competition. Alena Andreevna Korneva's paper, "Seroepidemiological Characteristics of Enteric Viral Hepatitis in the Nizhny Novgorod Region," was awarded a third-place diploma in the Epidemiology category.
The event was organized by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists, and Parasitologists, and others.
