In anticipation of the new epidemic season for acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), Rospotrebnadzor recommends following a number of preventive measures to protect your health.

1. Wash your hands frequently with soap.
Hand hygiene is a crucial measure for preventing the spread of the flu, acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), and coronavirus. Washing hands with soap effectively removes viruses. If you cannot wash your hands, use an antiseptic. After visiting public places or using public transport, be sure to wash not only your hands but also your face. Also, remember to regularly disinfect surfaces—such as tables, doorknobs, and electronic devices—to eliminate viruses.
2. Maintain physical distance and observe proper coughing and sneezing etiquette.
Viruses spread via respiratory droplets, so keep a distance of at least 1.5 meters from people showing signs of illness. Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Wearing a mask helps reduce the risk of infection transmission. When coughing or sneezing, cover your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue and discard it immediately.
3. Lead a healthy lifestyle.
A healthy lifestyle boosts the body's resistance to infections. Maintain a regular daily routine, get adequate sleep, eat foods rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals, and engage in physical activity.
4. Use medical masks.
Masks limit the spread of viruses. Wear them in the following situations:
• When visiting crowded places, including public transport, during periods of rising infection rates.
• When caring for someone with an acute respiratory viral infection.
• When interacting with people showing signs of illness.
5. Mask-wearing guidelines.
To protect yourself from infection, it is important to wear a mask correctly:
• The mask must fit snugly against your face, covering both your mouth and nose.
• Wash your hands or use an antiseptic before removing the mask. • Try not to touch the outside of the mask when removing it.
• The mask must be changed every 2 hours.
• Do not reuse a disposable mask; discard it immediately after use.
