The conference was timed to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Federal Budgetary Scientific Institution “Kazan Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology” of Rospotrebnadzor.

On June 5–6, 2025, the Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference “Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Modern Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases” was held in Kazan, dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the establishment of the Kazan Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Rospotrebnadzor. The Conference was attended by the Director of the Institute, Doctor of Medical Sciences N.N. Zaitseva and research associates of the Laboratory of Epidemiology of Viral Hepatitis – Junior Researcher A.A. Korneva and Researcher A.D. Kashnikova, who were nominated as part of the Young Scientists’ Work Competition, which was held on June 6.
Director of the Institute N.N. Zaitseva acted as a member of the organizing committee of the event, chaired the section “HIV/AIDS: epidemiology, clinical picture, molecular biological diagnostic methods, prevention”, and also gave a report on the topic “Molecular and epidemiological characteristics of the epidemic process of HIV infection in the Volga Federal District”.

Korneva A.A. and Kashnikova A.D. took part in the Competition of Young Scientists' Works, which took place on June 6. Junior Researcher Korneva A.A. made a video report on the topic "Epidemiological Features of Enteral Viral Hepatitis A and E". The report of Researcher Kashnikova A.D. "Epidemiological Characteristics of Parenteral Viral Hepatitis in the Nizhny Novgorod Region" took the second prize in the nomination "Epidemiological Surveillance. Modern Directions of Development".

In total, about 530 specialists in the field of microbiology, biotechnology, epidemiology, employees of Rospotrebnadzor, practical healthcare from different regions of Russia and neighboring countries took part in the work of the Conference. The conference participants shared their experience of scientific and practical work in the field of epidemiology, in particular, the study of antimicrobial resistance, improvement of laboratory diagnostics of infectious diseases and their immunoprophylaxis.
