The class took place on December 1, 2025, as part of a series of events for the large-scale educational project "Sanprosvet" Lecture Hall and was timed to coincide with World AIDS Day.

World AIDS Day, celebrated annually on December 1, serves to strengthen organized efforts to combat the HIV pandemic. In 2025, it will be celebrated under the WHO slogan "Overcoming Challenges, Transforming the AIDS Response."
E.E. Kuzovatova, PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Volga District AIDS Prevention and Control Center of the I.N. Blokhina Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, met with students of the Volga State University of Water Transport – cadets of the I.P. Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod River College, awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor. Thirty cadets participated in the event.
E.E. Kuzovatova shared current information about HIV infection and prevention measures with the audience. The session explored risky situations, discussed the behavioral patterns of young people, and discussed actions that can increase their risk of HIV infection. Participants learned about HIV testing and where to get tested. They learned about current treatment options. They also focused on the social and ethical aspects of the problem and the need to combat the stigma and discrimination that still surround HIV/AIDS. The main goal of the session was to motivate young people to choose safe behavior and a healthy lifestyle.
All participants were given prevention booklets prepared by the Volga District Center for AIDS Prevention and Control.
