The conference "Modern Problems of Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Hygiene" was held on May 13 and 14 at the Federal Scientific Center for Medical and Preventive Technologies for Public Health Risk Management of Rospotrebnadzor.

The event was attended by over 220 young researchers and specialists from 25 regions of the Russian Federation, representing regional research institutes of Rospotrebnadzor, Rospotrebnadzor's Office, the Federal Budgetary Institution of Health "Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology," higher education institutions, as well as government and other organizations. Representatives from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam also participated.

The Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor was represented at the conference by Anastasia Aleksandrovna Novoselova, Chair of the Institute's Scientific and Methodological Center and Junior Researcher in the Viral Hepatitis Epidemiology Laboratory, and Svetlana Vitalievna Oparina, Junior Researcher in the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology of Viral Infections.

Participants presented 79 oral and 5 poster presentations, covering a wide range of topical issues related to public health and environmental protection, improving sanitary and epidemiological surveillance, and the principles of preventive medicine. A meeting of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of Rospotrebnadzor was held as part of the conference, with A.A. Novoselova actively participating.

Forty-one studies were submitted to the "Best Work of a Young Scientist" competition. Winners were selected in three categories: "Hygiene," "Microbiology," and "Epidemiology," and were awarded diplomas and prizes. The jury recognized nine scientific papers in total. S.V. Oparina presented a paper titled "Molecular and Genetic Characterization of a Rare Norovirus Recombinant GII.4 Sydney [P4 New Orleans]" and was awarded a third-place diploma in the "Microbiology" section.
