The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

In order to attract talented young people to the field of scientific research and development within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by the President of Russia, events are continuing in the format of the project “Open Doors to Science Day”.

On November 12, the institute was visited by students of grades 6–11 of the Private Educational Institution of the RO NERPC (MP) "Nizhny Novgorod Orthodox Gymnasium" of Nizhny Novgorod, who are involved in the "I Want to Become a Doctor" club at the gymnasium.
The schoolchildren visited scientific laboratories, learned about the basics of organizing the scientific process, modern laboratory equipment and the latest developments of the institute in the field of microbiology, virology and molecular biology. The children talked with leading scientists and young specialists of the institute and received answers to all their questions.
At the end of the excursion, the schoolchildren visited the institute's museum, the exposition of which reflects the historical milestones of the formation and development of the institution as a scientific organization of Rospotrebnadzor, the main goal of which is to ensure anti-epidemic protection of the country's population.
