Reference Center for the Monitoring of Enteroviral Infections

Reference Center for the Monitoring of Enteroviral Infections was established on the basis of the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology of Viral infections.

Center tasks:

• Identification and study of biological, molecular and genetic characteristics of pathogens of enterovirus infections, including enteroviruses of new types and identified at atypical clinical forms of enteroviral infections.
• Providing practical assistance to institutions of Rospotrebnadzor in conducting laboratory studies to establish the etiological factors of enterovirus infections with severe and atypical clinical course, as well as in investigating outbreaks.
• Improvement and development of new methods of laboratory diagnostics of enterovirus infections.
• Preparation of proposals for making changes in the regulatory and methodological documents governing the laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of enteroviral infections, as well as ensuring biological safety when conducting diagnostic tests with enteroviruses.
• Providing advisory and methodological assistance in conducting laboratory research and monitoring to bodies and institutions of Rospotrebnadzor and healthcare institutions in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
• Analysis of the state of laboratory diagnostics and monitoring of enterovirus infections in the subjects of the Russian Federation and the development of proposals for their optimization.
• Informing the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, as well as territorial organizations and institutions of Rospotrebnadzor about the identification of new types / genotypes of enteroviruses.
