Blokhina Scientific Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 1919 as the Nizhny Novgorod Provincial Sanitary and Hygienic Laboratory.
In 2005 the Institute joined Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing as Federal State-Funded Institution of Science.
