The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.

The All-Russian scientific and practical conference "Scientific support for anti-epidemic protection of the population: current problems and solutions", dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science NNIIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, was held on September 24, 2024 in Nizhny Novgorod

The conference was organized by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science "Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. Blokhina" of Rospotrebnadzor, the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Nizhny Novgorod regional branch of the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists and Parasitologists and the MROO "Association of Doctors".
A total of 394 specialists from Rospotrebnadzor bodies and organizations, medical organizations, higher education institutions of the Russian Ministry of Health and other organizations took part in the conference, of which 102 people were present in person. The conference participants represented 108 cities from 71 regions of the Russian Federation, including the DPR and LPR (Donetsk, Lugansk). Specialists from the Republic of Belarus (Minsk) took part in the event.

The conference as a whole had a multidisciplinary nature, which was reflected in the topics of the reports presented within the framework of four sessions. The main issues discussed at the conference concerned the improvement of epidemiological surveillance of current infectious and parasitic diseases, the development of new methods and algorithms for identifying pathogens of infectious diseases, the optimization of the vaccination strategy of the population, the introduction of information technologies in the procedure for monitoring infectious diseases, the study of the ecology of biosystems, new approaches to the production of immunobiological drugs.

A total of 37 reports from specialists were heard, including 24 reports from the Research Institutes of Rospotrebnadzor (Moscow, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg, Tyumen, Ufa), 1 from the Office of Rospotrebnadzor (Nizhny Novgorod Region), 1 from the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology (Republic of Bashkortostan), 5 from educational, including medical, institutions, 1 from medical research institutes, 3 from companies manufacturing medical equipment and reagents.

As part of the conference, a competition of reports from young scientists was held; a total of 14 reports were presented. According to the decision of the competition committee, the prize places were distributed as follows:
1st place – Kirill Yuryevich Bulda (State Institution “Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology”, Minsk, Republic of Belarus) for the report “Genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2 at the present stage in the Republic of Belarus”
2nd place – Anastasia Aleksandrovna Novoselova (National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) for the report “Current epidemiological situation of parenteral viral hepatitis among children in the Nizhny Novgorod region”
2nd place – Denis Nikolaevich Kisakov (State Research Center of Virology and Biotechnology “Vector” of Rospotrebnadzor, Koltsovo, Russia) for the report “Physical methods of delivery of experimental DNA and mRNA vaccines”
3rd place – Maria Vladimirovna Svetlova (National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. I.N. Blokhina Rospotrebnadzor, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) for the report "Characteristics of T-helpers involved in the immune response to Helicobacter pylori"
3rd place - Zaitsev Dmitry Evgenievich (National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. Blokhina Rospotrebnadzor, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia) for the report "Genetic constructs encoding rotavirus VP7 proteins fused with the S domain of norovirus"
3rd place - Galliamova Liliya Albertovna (Federal Budgetary Institution of Healthcare "Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Republic of Bashkortostan" Rospotrebnadzor, Ufa, Russia) for the report "Experience in organizing epidemiological surveillance of enterovirus (non-polio) infections in the Republic of Bashkortostan and interaction with reference centers".
The following papers were awarded diplomas for the high scientific level of the research and the quality of their knowledge of the material: Tatyana Aleksandrovna Mishchenko (National Research Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), Maria Andreevna Perevezentseva (Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Moscow, Russia), Elena Aleksandrovna Kolesnikova (National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), Stanislav Aleksandrovich Sarskov (National Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), Danila Andreevich Pimenov (Primary Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia), Ekaterina Andreevna Strakhova ( "PIMU" of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Nizhny Novgorod, Russia). The members of the competition committee noted the high scientific level and practical significance of the reports.

In general, the participants noted the high scientific and practical significance and relevance of the materials presented at the conference, the high level of professionalism of the speakers, and the clear and high-quality organization of the conference.
The conference was organized as part of the implementation of the plan of the main events of Rospotrebnadzor for 2024, in accordance with the order of the head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing dated June 24, 2024 No. 464.
