The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

June 14, 2019 at a meeting of the Central Competition Commission summed up and determined the winners of
All-Russian Medical Competition. In the nomination "The best sanitary doctor" the second place was taken by the Head of the Volga district center for the prevention and control of AIDS, MD. Natalia N. Zaitseva.

In 2019, the All-Russian Medical Contest received 596 papers in 29 nominations from 60 constituent entities of the Russian Federation and 6 federal executive bodies. Working groups determine the winners in all nominations.
