Director of the Institute spoke about the work to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection
28  06.2021
On the air of the Vesti-Interview TV program, Natalya Nikolaevna Zaitseva spoke about the work of the institute to conduct scientific research and practical measures to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

“Since January 2020, the institute has begun active work on laboratory diagnostics of a new coronavirus infection, which continues to the present day. Since June 2020, the institute has been carrying out a project to assess population immunity to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. According to the results of 4 stages of the study, an increase in the proportion of prevalence or the level of the immune response from 8.4% to almost 60.0% was revealed. From February 2021 Rospotrebnadzor has instructed the Institute for Molecular Genetic Research to study the genome of the SARS-CoV-2 virus as part of monitoring mutant strains (British, South African, Brazilian, Indian, etc.). Up to 17.0% of samples sent to the institute from 6 subjects of the Volga Federal District contained mutant virus strains. In a significant part, these are people who were not previously ill or vaccinated, who traveled outside the Russian Federation. Initially, it was assumed that these strains of the virus are more contagious and virulent, characterized by more severe clinical manifestations of the disease, which, in most cases, is confirmed, a small part of the examined individuals are asymptomatic. It is important to note that before planning a trip outside the country / region, in the face of an increased incidence of COVID-19 around the world, it is worth getting vaccinated against a new coronavirus infection. People should be responsible for their own health, the health of their relatives and friends, the environment. "
At the end of the interview, Natalya Nikolaevna congratulated her medical colleagues on the upcoming Day of the Medical Worker!
