The Election Commission of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has taken measures to ensure safe sanitary and epidemiological conditions in the voting premises in accordance with the recommendations of Rospotrebnadzor in order to avoid the risks associated with the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) on all voting days.
Why are elections important and why is it so important to participate in them? Elections are:
- Exercise of the right to vote. The right to vote is given to all citizens of the country by the supreme law of Russia - the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Having the right to vote, everyone gets the opportunity to take part in the process of governing the state, as well as to have a direct impact on the government;
- Ensuring the legitimacy of the authorities. Fair elections are elections with a high turnout. A high turnout is a guarantee of the legitimacy of citizens' representation by the authorities.
- Manifestation of civic position. If you are not indifferent to what is happening, both in the country as a whole and in your hometown, then elections are your legal way to participate in the social and political life of the state and the region.
