The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.

Heroines of Nizhny Novgorod science

On September 27, at Nizhny Novgorod State University named after N.I. Lobachevsky, a joint project with the Nizhny Novgorod Council of Women was launched to preserve the heritage of departed and now living Nizhny Novgorod scientists - "Heroines of Nizhny Novgorod Science", which tells about women scientists of the past and present, whose scientific works and achievements entered the history of Nizhny Novgorod and domestic science.

Director of NNIIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor N.N. Zaitseva, along with scientists from UNN, the leadership of the Nizhny Novgorod Council of Women, representatives of the authorities and families of the heroines of the project, took part in the opening of the Initiative, where ten representatives of Nizhny Novgorod science were honored, including such legendary names as: microbiologist Irina Blokhina, radiophysicist Maria Grekhova, mathematician Evgenia Leontovich -Andronova, radiophysicist Alexandra Lyubin, biologist Larisa Ponomareva. A special place is given to our contemporaries - professors of Lobachevsky University: sociologist Zara Saralieva, linguist Larisa Ratsiburskaya, chemist Larisa Smirnova, folklorist Klara Korepova, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, biomedical scientist Elena Zagainova.
The events of the opening day of the Project were the Traveling Exhibition of posters dedicated to women scientists of the UNN, and the landing at the first building of the NNSU rowan alley "Daughters of the Fatherland".


The project is timed to coincide with the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation.
