The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

On September 29, 2022, an expanded meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute was held with the invitation of employees and veterans of the Institute, representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Organization of the Trade Union of Health Workers.

Director of the Institute N.N. Zaitseva a report was made on the role of the institute in the development of the sanitary and epidemiological service of the region and the country as a whole, films about the history of the institute were shown, awards were presented at various levels to employees and veterans of the institute.
By the day of the meetings of the Academic Council of the Institute in the conference hall of the Institute, a thematic exhibition was prepared for the 100th anniversary of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Russia, the historical exposition was updated, the stand “History of the Institute in Persons” was prepared, an exhibition of methodological materials prepared by the Institute’s staff for practical healthcare was organized in the library of the Institute and teaching activities (since 1936) and collections of conference materials and collections of articles published by the institute (since 1940). In the hall of the 4th floor, an exhibition of creativity of the Institute's employees was organized, which presented paintings, embroideries, drawings, photographs, and various handicrafts. The exhibition aroused great interest.
