In the historical documentary film “Gratitude of the City. Honorary Citizens of Nizhny Novgorod” tells about Nizhny Novgorod residents who made a great contribution to the development of the city and were awarded the high title “Honorary Citizen of Nizhny Novgorod”.

The title “Honorary Citizen of Nizhny Novgorod” was established in the City Duma at the end of the 19th century at the proposal of the mayor Vasily Sobolev.
This high title was awarded to Irina Nikolaevna Blokhina, director of the institute (1955–1999), whose name the institution currently bears, shows her significant contribution to science and healthcare in the Nizhny Novgorod region and the country as a whole, which made it possible, among other things, to save thousands human lives.
The film presents the stories of Nizhny Novgorod merchants and philanthropists Nikolai Bugrov and Fyodor Blinov; academicians Irina Blokhina and Andrey Gaponov-Grekhov; Olympic champion in foil fencing German Sveshnikov; Bishop Nicholas (Kutepov); shipbuilder, general director of the Krasnoye Sormovo plant Nikolai Zharkov; professor of NNGASU Tatyana Vinogradova and others. With their deeds, virtues, and achievements, they left a good memory of themselves for their hometown and its future generations.
