Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.

Institute staff held preventive talks on the problem of the spread of viral hepatitis B

During July 2024, the staff of the Institute's Viral Hepatitis Epidemiology Laboratory held discussions with patients of women's consultations and the maternity hospital in Nizhny Novgorod on the problem of the spread of viral hepatitis B.

In order to expand the activities carried out within the framework of the WHO global strategy to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health problem by 2030, as well as in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation and the action plan to combat hepatitis B, the staff of the Institute's Laboratory of Viral Hepatitis Epidemiology developed an information brochure "Hepatitis B Infection". In July 2024, lectures and discussions were held with patients of three antenatal clinics and Maternity Hospital No. 1 in Nizhny Novgorod on viral hepatitis, in particular hepatitis B infection, ways to prevent the spread of the virus, preventive measures, the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment.
