On September 17–19, 2024, the IX National Congress of Bacteriologists dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science “State Research Center for Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology” of Rospotrebnadzor was held in Moscow. The director of the institute, MD Zaitseva N.N. and senior researcher of the microbiology laboratory, MD Gordinskaya N.A. took part in the work of the Congress.

Director of the Institute Zaitseva N.N., chaired the section "Modern Methods of Diagnosis and Correction of Microbiota Disorders", made a report on the topic "Human Microbiota as a Reservoir of Epidemiologically Significant Strains. Methods of Its Correction in Various Infectious Pathologies". Senior Researcher of the Microbiology Laboratory, Doctor of Medical Sciences Gordinskaya N.A. made a report on the topic "Characteristics of Institutional Collections of Microbial Strains and Intra-Laboratory Quality Control" as part of the section "Topical Issues of Creation, Replenishment, Maintenance and Use of Microbial Collections". During the event, a fruitful exchange of experience and competencies in the field of microbiological science took place, the most promising and significant developments in the creation of diagnostic drugs, means of specific prevention and treatment of infectious diseases were noted, and the most important areas of research were identified. A competition for the best poster report of a young scientist was held within the framework of the Congress. Report of the young scientist of the Institute Suslova N.A. "Genotyping of human herpes virus 6B isolates in children" won a prize in the category "Basic research".
In total, 478 specialists in the field of clinical and sanitary microbiology, biotechnology, epidemiology, employees of Rospotrebnadzor, practical healthcare and teachers of higher educational institutions from 74 regions of Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus took part in the Congress. More than 100 people registered and participated online. As part of the plenary and ten sectional sessions, 83 reports were heard.
The next Congress of Bacteriologists is scheduled for September 2025 and will be held in Nizhny Novgorod.
