The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

On October 10–11, 2024, the V All-Russian scientific and practical conference with international participation “Modern immunoprophylaxis: challenges, opportunities, prospects” was held in Moscow.

Leading scientists from scientific institutions, medical specialists of various profiles, healthcare organizers took part in the conference - in total, more than 2,000 people from 72 regions of the Russian Federation and 9 countries of the world took part in the online and offline format. The participants discussed the development of effective means and schemes for vaccine prevention, improvement of the national calendar of preventive vaccinations, as well as the training of highly qualified personnel. The event was attended by the head of the laboratory of cellular immunology, MD, Professor Vladimir Yuryevich Talaev and the leading researcher of the laboratory of immunochemistry, PhD, Associate Professor Dmitry Viktorovich Novikov. Within the framework of the section "Problems and achievements on the way to the creation of new immunobiological drugs" the institute's employees presented the reports "The response of T-cells in vivo to prototypes of a vaccine based on chimeric virus-like particles carrying enterovirus antigens" (Talaev V.Yu.) and "Development of a prototype of a vaccine for the prevention of infection caused by the E30 virus. Immunogenicity of chimeric virus-like particles carrying surface antigens of Echovirus 30 (Enterovirus, Picornaviridae)" (Novikov D.V.). In connection with the current topic, the material of the reports aroused keen interest among the conference participants. The event was held in accordance with the plan of scientific and practical events of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing for 2024, organized by the Federal Budgetary Scientific Institution Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor with the assistance of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the All-Russian Scientific and Practical Society of Epidemiologists, Microbiologists and Parasitologists and the National Association of Infectious Disease Specialists named after Academician V.I. Pokrovsky.
