Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

IV "Pokrovsky Readings" took place in Moscow

On November 1-2, 2024, the IV Annual Conference on Infectious Diseases "Pokrovskie Readings" was held, in which the director of the institute, N.N. Zaitseva, took part.

The conference included 22 symposia covering a wide range of relevant areas in the field of infectious disease control:

  • COVID-19: lessons from the pandemic
  • The burden of bacterial infections and the problem of antibiotic resistance
  • Acute and chronic viral infections in general medical practice
  • Natural focal and especially dangerous infections
  • Neuroinfections and their outcomes
  • Parasitic diseases
  • Comorbidity issues in the practice of an infectious disease specialist
  • Infections associated with the provision of medical care
  • Interdisciplinary approaches to the rehabilitation of infectious patients
  • Current issues of antiviral and antibacterial therapy of infectious diseases
  • Immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases

A course of special lectures was organized within the framework of the conference, dedicated to the causative agents of current diseases (botulism, West Nile fever, tuberculosis infection) and nutritional support in the treatment of patients with infectious pathology.

Director of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science NNIIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor N.N. Zaitseva, being a member of the presidium of the plenary session "Infectious diseases in the modern world as an interdisciplinary problem", made a report on the topic "Molecular-epidemiological monitoring of enterovirus infection in the Russian Federation". The material of the report aroused keen interest of the audience and contributed to the exchange of experience between specialists in the field of diagnostics, treatment and medical prevention of human infectious diseases.
