The delegation also included employees of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor and the Pasteur Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Rospotrebnadzor. Russian scientists have carried out large-scale work on the analysis of epidemiological information and the formation of a sample of clinical material from patients with somatic pathology who sought medical care in medical institutions of various provinces of the Republic, as well as preliminary preparation of the obtained biological material and its subsequent study for markers of viral hepatitis using the ELISA method. In the course of work with foreign colleagues, a plan for future cooperation, the organization of the collection of new samples of clinical material from patients with chronic forms of viral hepatitis and the methodology of future joint research were discussed. The importance and prospects of Russian-Burundian scientific cooperation in the field of molecular epidemiological monitoring of viral hepatitis and the study of other infectious diseases relevant to the East African region were noted, as well as the need for additional study of the prevalence of viral hepatitis in risk groups, including among individuals with chronic forms of infection, assessment of environmental objects as factors in the transmission of enteral hepatitis in the Republic of Burundi.
