The conference took place on the eve of World AIDS Day, which is celebrated on December 1.

In Nizhny Novgorod, the annual round table dedicated to World AIDS Day was held in the press center of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Information Center. The event was attended by specialists from the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center for AIDS Prevention and Control, the regional Ministry of Education and Science, the Office of Rospotrebnadzor for the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The head of the Volga District Center for AIDS Prevention and Control of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science NNRIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, PhD, Associate Professor E.E. Kuzovatova was one of the speakers at the event.

The round table participants discussed the situation with morbidity in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, as well as the region's successes in preventing, early diagnosis, and treating patients with HIV. The most important achievement of 2024 was recognized as the absence of diagnosed cases of HIV in newborns in the region. Experts noted that today the majority of new cases of HIV infection occur among men aged 31 to 50 years, emphasizing that anyone can be tested for HIV infection, including anonymously, completely free of charge at any state medical institution in the region.
