Director of the Institute Zaitseva N.N. gave a lecture to students of the medical university of Nizhny Novgorod

13  01.2025 The lecture “Epidemiological features and main directions of HIV infection prevention” was attended by 6th-year students of the medical and preventive faculty of the Volga Region Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

The class took place on January 13, 2025. Director of the Federal Budgetary Institution of Science NNIIEM named after academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Natalya Nikolaevna Zaitseva presented the students with up-to-date information on the prevalence of HIV infection in Russia and the world, including among vulnerable groups of the population. Future doctors studied the modern algorithm of laboratory diagnostics of the disease using molecular genetic methods, the principles of selection of antiretroviral therapy. N.N. Zaitseva placed special emphasis on explaining the causes and mechanisms of the emergence of drug resistance of HIV and ways to prevent it.

The lecture also covered the main aspects of disease prevention and the implementation of the Strategy for counteracting the spread of HIV infection in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030.
