Mid-level specialists reinforced their knowledge of the rules for collecting samples for laboratory testing.

On February 19, 2026, Maria Aleksandrovna Makhova, PhD, Senior Researcher at the Laboratory of Metagenomics and Molecular Pathogen Indication at the I.N. Blokhina Novosibirsk Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology (Rospotrebnadzor), held a training seminar for mid-level specialists in the pediatric department of the Kstovo Central District Hospital.

The seminar focused on the rules for collecting respiratory samples for PCR diagnostics of community-acquired pneumonia in children. The focus was on compliance with the rules for the preanalytical stage of molecular genetic testing to obtain reliable results in determining the etiologic factor of inflammatory respiratory diseases.

Considering the widespread prevalence of mycoplasma pneumonia in children, the technique of selecting biological substrates was separately considered in accordance with the methodological recommendations MR 4.2.0339-23 “Selection, storage and transportation of biomaterials for laboratory diagnostics of respiratory mycoplasmosis”.
