The International Festival "TechnoStrelka" and the scientific hackathon "BioGenesis" were held in Nizhny Novgorod
29  04.2026
An employee of the Research Institute of Experimental Medicine took part in a project to teach students molecular genetic methods.

On April 27-29, 2026, the international natural science hackathon "BioGenesis" was held in Nizhny Novgorod as part of the V International Festival "TechnoStrelka". The participants of the hackathon were schoolchildren aged 12-18 and their mentors. In total, more than 900 teenagers from various regions of Russia, as well as representatives of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, participated in the festival.

Maria Alexandrovna Makhova, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor, took part in the project in the field of Medicine (section Biomolecule).

Makhova M.A. took part in the implementation of the project aimed at mastering modern molecular‑genetic methods by schoolchildren. The students learned about the real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR-RT) algorithm, how to analyze the data obtained, evaluate the quality of the isolated DNA, and use molecular genetic methods to assess the degree of relatedness between the objects under study.

The festival participants had the opportunity to perform experiments using molecular biology methods on their own, and for many of them, this experience served as an incentive to choose a future profession in the field of molecular biology and biotechnology.
