Nikolay Semashko: the creator of Soviet healthcare

The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

A seminar-conference of young scientists "Modern technologies in monitoring and diagnosing natural focal and other topical diseases" was held

On February 21, 2023, a joint on-line seminar-conference of young scientists “Modern technologies in monitoring and diagnosing natural focal and other topical diseases” was held on the basis of the Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor. Young scientists of the institute took an active part in the event.

More than 40 young scientists and specialists took part in the event in an on-line format. According to the agenda, 16 scientific reports on the following issues were considered and discussed at the seminar:

  • improvement of molecular genetic methods and technologies used to study the pathogenic properties of pathogens of dangerous natural focal, zoonotic and anthroponotic infectious diseases;
  • development of new methods and computer programs for diagnostic studies and organization of preventive measures for actual diseases;
  • analysis of biological and ecological features of arthropod carriers of pathogens of natural focal infections.

Young scientists of our institute took an active part in the event, making presentations:

  • "Molecular Genetic Characterization of Enteroviruses Detected in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2018–20" - Leonov A.V.
  • "Seroprevalence of markers of hepatitis B virus among patients of somatic hospitals in the Nizhny Novgorod region" - Novoselova A.A.

The material of the reports aroused the interest of the participants of the seminar-conference.
