The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

September 13-15, 2023 in Nizhny Novgorod on the basis of the Nizhny Novgorod Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after. Academician I.N. Blokhina” of Rospotrebnadzor the XV All-Russian scientific and practical conference of young scientists and specialists of Rospotrebnadzor “Modern problems of epidemiology, microbiology and hygiene” was held. The Conference was attended in person by 128 young scientists and specialists from bodies and organizations of Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Ministry of Health of Russia and other institutions from 18 constituent entities of the Russian Federation (Moscow and St. Petersburg, the Republics of Bashkortostan, Tatarstan, Arkhangelsk, Volgograd, Irkutsk, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Rostov, Sverdlovsk, Saratov, Tyumen regions, Primorsky, Stavropol, Khabarovsk territories).



In total, young scientists presented 66 reports, which reflected the wide range and scale of current problems of protecting public health and the environment, improving epidemiological, radiation, sanitary surveillance and control, the principles of preventive and educational activities. Young scientists proposed and scientifically substantiated new approaches to improve laboratory diagnostics and monitoring of pathogens, immunization and antibiotic therapy tactics, and proposed ways to improve instrumental studies of harmful substances in working and environmental objects, drinking water and food.
The conference program made it possible, within one workspace, to hear and discuss reports from scientists and practitioners on current problems of the scientific and practical level of Rospotrebnadzor from all regions of the country.
60 research papers took part in the “Best Work of a Young Scientist” competition in the areas of “epidemiology”, “microbiology”, “hygiene” and “Best poster presentation”.
