The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

Directions of activities:

  • Study of structural and functional polymorphism of molecules involved in the initiation, realization and regulation of programmed cell death (apoptosis) in normal, as well as in diseases of infectious and non-infectious genesis.
  • Development of new methods for monitoring the functional state of cellular immunity in bacterial, viral infections, oncological diseases.
  • Study of the genetic diversity of herpes viruses in relation to the clinical features of the course of the infectious process.

  • Development of test systems in the format of biological microchips for the indication of actual causative agents of community-acquired pneumonia.

Laboratory achievements:

  • Over the years of work, the laboratory staff has published more than 250 scientific papers, 1 monograph, received 11 Russian Federation patents for inventions, developed 3 computer programs and 1 database with state registration, received 6 certificates of deposition of full-length research protocols in the international Gene Expression Omnibus database on the NCBI portal, devoted to the study of the expression of a wide range of genes, the products of which are key participants in the signaling cascades of apoptosis and survival, as well as 165 certificates of deposition of fragments of the Epstein-Barr virus genome and 173 certificates of deposition of fragments of the human herpes viruses 6A and 6B genome in the international GenBank database, registered 2 know-how, received 4 certificates of deposition of scientific works in VINITI RAS.
  • The laboratory staff, together with colleagues from the Volga Region Research Medical University of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, became laureates of the Skolkovo innovation projects, the Russian Academy of Sciences OncoBioMed 2016, the scientific and practical event with international participation Relay of University Science 2017, as well as the main national award for the best doctors and scientists of Russia working in the medical field, Calling 2017 in the nomination for the creation of a new diagnostic method, the XIV and XV competitions of intellectual property objects for the I.P. Kulibin Nizhny Novgorod Region Prize in the nomination Best Invention of the Year in Medicine and Pharmaceuticals in 2020 and 2021.
  • For their professional work, laboratory staff have been repeatedly awarded with certificates of honor, diplomas, and letters of thanks from the Head of the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, the Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Chief State Sanitary Doctor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the Chief Federal Inspector of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, and the Director of the Institute.
