Nikolay Semashko: the creator of Soviet healthcare

The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.


The institute's primary trade union organization was awarded for valiant work and significant contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Honorary diplomas of the regional committee and medals of the Central Committee of the trade union "For a special contribution to the fight against coronavirus" were awarded to the employees of the institute who distinguished themselves in the fight against the pandemic.

Vasily Nikolayevich Prikaznov, chairman of the Nizhny Novgorod regional organization of the trade union of healthcare workers of the Russian Federation, presented certificates of honor of the regional committee and medals of the Central Committee of the trade union "For a special contribution to the fight against coronavirus" to the employees of the institute who distinguished themselves in the fight against the pandemic.

The trade union Central Committee medal was awarded to:

  • Zaitseva Natalya Nikolaevna, Director of the Institute
  • Novikova Nadezhda Alekseevna, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology of Viral Infections
  • Olga Peksheva, Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Genetic and Serological Research Methods of the Privolzhsky District Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS
