World AIDS Day of Remembrance
28  05.2021
Every year, on the third Sunday of May, it is customary to remember people who died of AIDS. Memorial Day is an opportunity to explain to people all over the world that the life of every person is priceless, and the loss of millions of lives is irreplaceable.

The main goal of the memorable date is to unite the efforts of interested ministries and departments, public organizations in countering the spread of HIV infection, remember those who have already died from this disease, raise awareness and consciousness of the population, and eradicate stereotypes associated with HIV / AIDS.
For the first time, the Day of Remembrance of AIDS Victims was celebrated in the American city of San Francisco in 1983. A few years later, the symbol of the movement against disease appeared. They were a red ribbon pinned to clothes, as well as multi-colored canvases - quilts, sewn from scraps of fabric in memory of many people who have passed away. Such attributes were invented in 1991 by the artist Frank Moore. Currently, on this day, activists of the action and simply not indifferent people attach red ribbons to their clothes.

In 2021, Memorial Day will be held under the motto "We Remember - We Act", hashtag # AIDSCandlelightMemorial2021.

The epidemic is multifaceted. She came to all countries and cities, affected all sectors of society and violated all boundaries. Currently, HIV infection remains an incurable disease, but the diagnosis is not a verdict, because there is highly effective antiretroviral therapy (ART), which can significantly prolong the life of people infected with HIV and improve its quality.

HIV infection affects each of us. The most important thing in personal prevention of HIV infection is to change a person's attitude to their health, exclude risky behavior, and set a healthy lifestyle.
