The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

The All-Russian scientific and practical conference "Scientific support for anti-epidemic protection of the population: current problems and solutions" was held in Nizhny Novgorod.

The conference dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the establishment of the Federal Budgetary Scientific Institution NNIIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor was held on September 24, 2024.

A total of 394 specialists from Rospotrebnadzor bodies and organizations, medical organizations, higher education institutions of the Russian Ministry of Health and other organizations took part in the conference, of which 102 people were present in person. The conference participants represented 108 cities from 71 regions of the Russian Federation, including the DPR and LPR (Donetsk, Lugansk), as well as the Republic of Belarus (Minsk). 37 reports were heard during four sessions.
The conference as a whole was multidisciplinary in nature. The issues discussed at the conference concerned improving epidemiological surveillance of current infectious and parasitic diseases, developing new methods and algorithms for identifying pathogens of infectious diseases, optimizing the vaccination strategy for the population, introducing information technologies into the procedure for monitoring infectious diseases, studying the ecology of biosystems, and new approaches to the production of immunobiological drugs.
A competition of reports from young scientists was held as part of the conference.
