Institute staff held a lesson with preschoolers
23  01.2026
The children learned why they need to wash even "clean" hands.

Staff from the Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Laboratory and the Microbiology Laboratory conducted a lesson on the microworld and its diversity with the senior group of the TeremOK Children's School.

The children gained a general understanding of the numerous microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa) that inhabit our planet and their role in human life.
The practical part of the lesson focused on hand hygiene. The children learned about a Petri dish, the composition of the nutrient medium for growing microorganisms, and how to use it to detect "invisible" microbes. To understand how hand washing helps maintain their cleanliness, the preschoolers cultured fingerprints in Petri dishes filled with sterile nutrient medium before and after hand washing. The results of the experiment will be known in a few days.

At the end of the lesson, the children concluded that eating fermented milk products and keeping their hands clean are the keys to good health and well-being.

Eight children and their teachers attended the lesson.
