Employees refreshed their knowledge about measures to prevent infection with HIV infection and parenteral viral hepatitis while performing their professional duties.

The lesson was conducted by S.I., a doctor of clinical and laboratory diagnostics at the Volga Regional Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS. Lyamshaeva.

The likelihood of occupational infection with bloodborne infections exists in all areas of healthcare; any patient is considered potentially infected. During the lesson, the lecturer drew the staff's attention to the need for strict adherence to the rules for performing medical procedures, constant use of personal protective equipment, thorough hygienic treatment of hands after manipulations and removal of gloves, timely vaccination against hepatitis B and other infections in accordance with the national and regional calendars of preventive vaccinations. During the lesson, the lecturer outlined the indications for post-exposure drug prevention of HIV infection. Listeners were familiarized with the provisions of regulatory documents of Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health on this issue.

During the lesson, types of emergency situations were discussed, the algorithm of actions of medical workers in case of their occurrence was analyzed, and the knowledge of medical workers about the composition of the first aid kit was tested. S.I. Lyamshaeva emphasized that all workplaces must be provided with instructions and methodological documents, a disinfectant solution and a first aid kit for emergency preventive measures in case of emergencies.
