Nikolay Semashko: the creator of Soviet healthcare

The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

A seminar for young scientists on the use of mass spectrometry was held at the laboratory of the human microbiome

February 20, 2020 on the basis of the laboratory of the human microbiome and means of its correction, our institute hosted the first inter-laboratory seminar of young scientists on the use of mass spectrometry.

The headliner of the seminar was Senior Researcher, Ph.D. Tochilina Anna Georgievna. A total of 9 young scientists and employees of the institute were present.
In the theoretical part of the seminar, a brief overview of the device of a time-of-flight mass spectrometer was presented, in particular, its detecting system, the principle of operation of the instrument, the features of sample preparation depending on the material being studied are considered.

During the practical part of the seminar, participants using Biotyper software identified microorganisms of the genus Enterobacter and got acquainted with the rules of maintenance of the device.

The workshop material aroused lively discussion and was noted.
