Nikolay Semashko: the creator of Soviet healthcare

The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

Within the framework of the Interregional Scientific and Practical Conference, a competition of reports by young scientists was held, in total 27 reports were heard.

In total, 27 reports were heard, of which 9 reports were presented from the NNIIEM them. academician I.N. Blokhin; 6 reports - from NNIIGP; 7 - from other research organizations of Rospotrebnadzor (TsNIIE - 2; MNIIEM named after G.N. Gabrichevsky - 2; SPbNIIEM named after Pasteur - 1; YENIIVI SSC VB "Vector" - 1; Volgograd NIPCHI - 1); 1 report - from TsGiE in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra; 3 reports - from PIMU; 1 report - from the Research Institute of Hygiene and Health Protection of Children and Adolescents.
The quality of the reports was assessed by the competition committee, represented by the leading researchers of the NNIIEM named after academician I.N.Blokhina and the NNIIGP. The composition of the commission was approved by the order of the director of the NNIIEM named after academician I.N.Blokhina.

As a result of the expert evaluation of the scientific reports submitted for the competition, the commission noted, in general, the high scientific level and practical significance of the reports and determined the following winners:

1st place

Leonov Artem Viktorovich, junior researcher NNIIEM named after academician I.N.Blokhina. Report: "Molecular and genetic characterization of enteroviruses found in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in 2018-2020"

2nd place

Kalacheva Ekaterina Sergeevna, laboratory assistant-researcher of NNIIGP. Report: "Monitoring of air pollution by benz (a) pyrene in the main areas of the city of Nizhny Novgorod"
Novosyolova Anastasia Aleksandrovna, laboratory assistant of the NNIIEM named after Academician I.N. Blokhin. Report: "Molecular epidemiological monitoring of hepatitis B virus markers among the population of the Nizhny Novgorod region."

III place

Bryzgalova Daria Alekseevna, junior researcher NNIIEM named after academician I.N. Blokhin. Report: "Optimization of methodological approaches for assessing the genetic diversity of EBV and HHV6 herpesviruses".
Shemelev Alexander Nikolaevich, junior researcher SPbNIIEM them. Pasteur. Report: "Characteristics of the population of people with newly diagnosed HIV infection in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region."
Korneva Alyona Andreevna, laboratory assistant of the NNIIEM named after academician I.N.Blokhina. Report: "Epidemiological characteristics of hepatitis B infection in the pre-vaccination and vaccination periods in the territory of Nizhny Novgorod"
The winners of the competition were awarded with honorary diplomas and prizes.
