Nikolay Semashko: the creator of Soviet healthcare

The Soviet healthcare system was considered one of the best in the world. Its uniqueness lay in the unified principles of organization and centralization of all healthcare, and the key role was played by free of charge, accessibility and qualification. The creator of the model was Nikolai Aleksandrovich Semashko, the first People's Commissar of Health of the Soviet Union.
World AIDS Day

World AIDS Day, declared in 1988, was the first internationally recognized day dedicated to health protection. Its purpose is to raise global awareness of HIV/AIDS, provide support to people living with HIV, and unite efforts to combat the spread of this disease.

An on-line seminar-conference of young scientists "Application of molecular genetic and immunodiagnostic methods to improve the epidemiological surveillance of natural focal and other dangerous infections" was held

The event took place on May 31, 2023. The Council of Young Scientists of the Institute became one of the organizers, and our young employees took an active part in the work of the seminar-conference.

The seminar-conference was held on the basis of the FKUZ Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor in accordance with the Plans of the main events of the Councils of young scientists of the institutions of Rospotrebnadzor, including the SMU of our institute.

The seminar was organized by the Councils of Young Scientists of the Stavropol Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor (Stavropol), FBUN NNIIEM them. Academician I.N. Blokhina of Rospotrebnadzor (Nizhny Novgorod), Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor (Moscow), FKUN Russian Anti-Plague Institute "Microbe" (Saratov), FKUZ Rostov-on-Don Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor (Rostov-on-Don) , FKUZ Volgograd Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor (Volgograd), FKUZ Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute of Rospotrebnadzor (Irkutsk), FBUN RostovResearch Institute of Microbiology and Parasitology of Rospotrebnadzor (Rostov-on-Don).

More than 40 young scientists and specialists took part in the on-line event. According to the agenda, 15 scientific reports on the following issues were considered and discussed at the seminar:

  • improvement of epidemiological surveillance of natural focal, zoonotic and other dangerous infections based on the use of modern molecular genetic methods;
  • application of new methods and geoinformation systems during monitoring in the centers of dangerous infections;
  • improvement of diagnostic preparations and methods for indication and identification of pathogens of infectious diseases.

From our institute, young scientists made presentations:

Oparina S.V. with a report on the topic “Features of the circulation of the epidemic variant of norovirus GII.4Sydney in the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region”

The material of the reports aroused great interest of the audience.
